Shes class started off with kick in the pants It didnt take long until almost everyone in the park was on their feet and shaking their booties along with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Whew. What weekend! Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for an incredible two days of music at the 16th annual Santa Cruz Blues Festival. Its fair guess that everyone in that park knew every word to every song, and we let him know it. Thanks for another great year!!! Wow. Whew.
Your support is what allows us to keep bringing these kinds of artists to Santa Cruz County. But Bonnie Raitt was the woman of the day. By the time the Subdudes came to the stage, we were ready for little break to sit back, close our eyes, and let those beautiful harmonies just take us away. Thank you music fans!!! We hope to see you again Memorial Day weekend 2009! Thanks for another great year!!! Wow.
As one attendee said, What love about this festival is that always hear something new that becomes one of my favorites. Jimmy Thackerys Jimi Hendrix tribute and Coco Montoyas soaring guitar ballads pleased all those guitar blues fans out therewe saw lot of air guitar action going on across the parkand the Legends of the Blues performance with Pinetop Perkins, Willie Big Eyes Smith, and Hubert Sumlin, and the Mike Schermer Allstars humbled us all.
It was the perfect segue to hear the man of the hour, Al Green.
Its fair guess that everyone in that park knew every word to every song, and we let him know it.
What weekend!
Shes class We hope you all had as much fun as we did. By the time the Subdudes came to the stage, we were ready for little break to sit back, close our eyes, and let those beautiful harmonies just take us away. If you didnt make it to the merchandise booth for the latest SCBF Tshirts, sweatshirts, hats and posters, check back here in few weeks.
It was the first time many SCBF attendees heard Mofro, but it wont be the last. She played an incredible set of music, featuring hit songs, blues classics, and guest performances by Perkins, Summlin, and Smith, Stephen Bruton, the Boneshakers, and longtime collaborator Maia Sharp. Whew. By the time the Subdudes came to the stage, we were ready for little break to sit back, close our eyes, and let those beautiful harmonies just take us away.
